Lil Tjay Attorney Says Gun Possession Arrest Was An Illegal Search
Lil Tjay’s attorney says the NYPD conducted an illegal search.
Attorney Dawn Florio says the police had no right to search Lil Tjay‘s vehicle. She told TMZ that Tjay was just a passenger alongside several other people, and insists the vehicle was parked legally on the street. Florio claims officers gave no legitimate reason for searching the vehicle and most importantly claims the gun they found does not belong to the New York rapper. Ultimately, Florio says officers had no right to arrest her client.
Tjay’s attorney thinks NYPD targeted the “Calling My Phone” rapper based on his social media post he shared to promote the filming of the music video for his “Gangsta Boo” collaboration with fellow New York rapper Ice Spice.
On Monday (Jan. 16), NYPD arrested Lil Tjay following a traffic stop in the Bronx, while on his way to film a music video with rapper Ice Spice. According to reports, officers found a handgun in Tjay’s car, and then arrested him. The 21-year-old rapper was booked for weapon possession and is currently behind bars waiting to see a judge.

In the meantime, Ice Spice went ahead and shot her own music video for her song “In Ha Mood” instead of the collaboration she had with Lil Tjay.
