NeNe Leakes Clarifies Son Brentt ‘Is Not Gay’ After He Seemingly Comes Out On TikTok, Shares His Happiness Is ‘The Most Important Thing’ To Her No Matter His Sexuality
NeNe Leakes is in full support of whatever decision her son decides to make in his personal life.
Recently, “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” vet NeNe Leakes appeared as a guest host on America’s popular morning radio show “The Breakfast Club,” where she cleared up the rumors about her son allegedly coming out of the closet. NeNe Leakes said:
“So my son hit the blogs this weekend, everybody was hitting me up. I was out of town. I get all these text messages ‘oh my God, Brentt came out, he’s gay.’ I was like ‘he is?’”
Hosts DJ Envy, 45, and Charlamagne tha God, 44, laughed before asking if Leakes knew about her son allegedly being gay. She replied:
“No and Brentt is not gay. He did some popular TikTok trend and everybody is calling us up about if he’s gay or not. ‘Is Brentt gay?’ I don’t know.”
Charlamagne tha God, born Lenard Larry McKelvey, then asked:
“Oh, so it’s not true? He didn’t come out?”
Leakes explained:
“Not to my knowledge. He called me up and was like ‘mom, everybody’s asking me if I’m gay because I did this TikTok video thing. And I said ‘it’s okay, I mean if you are gay it’s fine with me.’ and he was like ‘okay, I’m not gay, mom.’”
The 55-year-old continued:
“All my friends were calling him and calling me concerned if he’s gay or not. I didn’t really know what’s the big deal!”
Charlamagne tha God continued with his questions and asked the reality star:
“Why didn’t you just ask him NeNe? Like, ‘are you really gay?’”
Leakes replied:
“Why do I have to ask? You know what I said to my son? I don’t need to ask ‘are you gay?’ Like, that doesn’t make any sense. What I like to say to people is ‘your happiness is the most important thing, right? So whatever makes you happy.’ If my son today said that he was gay, I’m 100% okay with it. It would be almost like he said ‘do you want some tea?’ It would mean absolutely nothing to me.”
As previously reported, Brentt – who goes by KingBrentt on the video-sharing platform – had the internet speculating his sexuality after posting a TikTok, seemingly revealing he identifies as gay. The 23-year-old participated in a social media trend using a rigged game of paper basketball to make interesting announcements. Missing the basket in the video, Brentt, who clearly missed on purpose, wrote in a caption:
“If I Miss I’m Gay”
