Michael Irvin Pulled From NFL Network’s Super Bowl Coverage Following Report Of Misconduct Toward Woman In Hotel Lobby
Hall of Famer Michael Irvin will no longer be included in the NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage this week after a woman filed a complaint against him.
An unidentified woman claims she had an inappropriate encounter with Michael Irvin at a hotel in Glendale, Arizona–near the site of this weekend’s Super Bowl. However, Irvin says nothing inappropriate happened.
The former wide receiver told the Dallas Morning News that the encounter took place in the hotel lobby after he had returned following a night out on the town. Irvin said his interaction with the woman lasted only 45 seconds. The two shook hands and then went their separate ways.

Michael Irvin explained,
“Honestly, I’m a bit baffled with it all. This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out… I came into the lobby, and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl. I don’t know her, and I talked to her for about 45 seconds. We shook hands. Then, I left… That’s all I know.”
Irvin admitted that he was out drinking prior to the interaction so he does not remember the details of the conversation.
“I don’t really recall that conversation, to tell you the truth. We were out drinking. It was just a friendly conversation. ‘What’s up?’ I don’t even know…I am totally perplexed.”
While it’s unclear what the woman is alleging Irvin did, he stands firm that nothing physical took place other than a simple handshake.
“What law did I break? There was definitely nothing physical…That’s honestly all that happened. Nobody was in my room. It was a 45-second conversation in the lobby, a handshake and we left…I don’t know. I don’t know what this is, and it’s running me crazy.”
In addition to his duties with the NFL Network, Irvin also appears on ESPN.
