Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Attorney Argues Actor Had Consensual Sex w/ Woman Accusing Him Of Rape

Cuba Gooding Jr.’s lawyer isn’t standing for the accusations against his client.

According to reports, Gary Becker, Cuba Gooding Jr.’s lawyer, is arguing that the actor had consensual sex with the woman who accused him of raping her inside of Mercer hotel in New York City back in 2013.

During a Manhattan federal court status conference, Gary Becker detailed his arguments to US District Court Judge Paul A. Crotty and said his defense team will call witnesses to trial who claim the accuser — identified as “Jane Doe” — went back to the bar where she initially met Cuba Gooding Jr. earlier that night and bragged about having consensual sex with him.

The accuser filed the lawsuit against the 55-year-old entertainer in 2020. According to Jane Doe, she was raped by Cuba Gooding Jr. after they met at a bar in Greenwich Village. She stated that during the alleged assault, she reiterated “no” to Gooding, however, he attacked her a second time before she could run out of the room.

Jane Doe’s defense attorney, Casey Wolnowski, shared that he was informed about the witnesses Gooding’s legal team will put on the stand but his client “vehemently denies their views on what transpired.” He added that he’s “confident the jury is going to give” his client’s testimony “the weight it deserves.”

During the hearing, Judge Crotty was adamant that he wants the ongoing case to be settled in 2023. He said:

“We’re not putting the trial off for a year. The time for discovery is over. Let’s get on with the trial.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t Gooding’s first time being named as a suspect in a sexual abuse case. As previously reported, the “Boyz n the Hood” star was cleared of jail time after he plead guilty in April 2022 for groping a woman’s breast in an NYC nightclub in 2019.

Instead of spending time behind bars, he was ordered to remain out of trouble as well as complete six months of alcohol and behavior modification counseling.
