‘RHOP’ Star Candiace Dillard Bassett Sued For $2M For Alleging Her Co-Star’s Husband, Michael Darby, Offered To Pay A Man For Oral Sex

Candiace Dillard Bassett’s comments about her “Real Housewives of Potomac” co-star’s husband have landed her in legal trouble.

Reportedly, Michael Darby, 63, — the soon-to-be-ex-husband of Ashley Darby, 34, — is suing Candiace Dillard Bassett, 36, for defamation after she alleged he offered to pay another man to have sexual relations during the latest season of the Bravo reality series.

As you may recall, earlier this season, after Ashley Darby made allegations that Candiace Dillard Bassett’s husband — Chris Bassett, 45, — was entertaining other women, Candiace reportedly fired back,

“Your husband likes to leave you and go to a man named [censored]’s house and suck his d*ck.”

Michael Darby has since denied Bassett’s remarks and even sent her a cease and desist earlier this year. However, reports claim that because the “Drive Back” singer has yet to retract any of her allegations the businessman is now suing for $2 million in damages.

This isn’t the first accusation against Michael that has seemingly prompted questions about his sexuality. As previously reported, in 2018, prosecutors dropped charges against him for second-degree assault and improper sexual contact after he allegedly groped a cameraman while filming for “RHOP.”

Ramon Korionoff, a spokesman for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office said at the time:

“The case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The complaining witness states there were no witnesses who actually saw the incident.”

He added:

“ [the alleged victim] did inform his supervisors immediately after. He provided several contact numbers for his supervisors, however no one ever called us back. We called the complaining witness to update him, however he hasn’t returned our call.”

Michael’s attorney shared:

“The charges were dropped. They were baseless. There were a number of alleged witnesses who said it did not happen. The peace order request by the alleged victim was also denied. There was simply nothing that happened, and nothing here.”
