‘Basketball Wives’ Alum Evelyn Lozada Is Engaged To Her ‘Queens Court’ Finalist Lavon Lewis
Reality TV phenomenon Evelyn Lozada has officially met her KING!
As previously reported, Evelyn Lozada, Tamar Braxton, and Nivea joined forces for an all-new Peacock dating series, ‘Queens Court,’ hosted by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, Rodney.
The show centers around Evelyn Lozada and her co-stars (Tamar Braxton, Nivea) on their unconventional road to romance. Upon the ladies’ arrival at the ‘Court,’ they are presented with a batch of successful suitors looking to take home the winning crown… for each of them.
According to sources, Lozada’s throne-holder happened to be finalist LaVon Lewis, and they are now engaged! In December 2022, the 47-year-old’s soon-to-be hubby, LaVon Lewis, popped the question, and Lozada said ‘YES’ before a small group of loved ones.
When asked about his process of planning the beautiful proposal, 42-year-old LaVon Lewis reportedly said,
“The thing about Evelyn is, it is very hard to surprise her. I told her to pack her bags, we’re going somewhere. She was blindfolded until she got to the front door. She walked in to about twenty close friends and family and the big ‘marry me’ letters, roses on the ground, things like that.”
The ‘Basketball Wives’ alum added to that by stating that–though the two had often spoken about the idea of marriage–she had no idea that it was on the agenda at the moment.
She expressed:
“I didn’t know that he was going to propose that day. I didn’t know what I was walking into.”
Lozada furthered,
“He was being very sneaky, and, in all honesty, I was a little irritated because I’m such an Alpha female, and I’m kind of like, ‘Why do I have to pack? Why do I have to do this? It was really, really difficult for me to just let go and allow him to do his thing.”
However, although it was challenging for Lozada to let Lewis lead, ultimately, it worked out, and she couldn’t turn down the gorgeous Twila True rock that the established marketer slid on her finger.
Initially, Lozada was (seemingly) apprehensive about how things would progress between the now-lovebirds’. The long distance paired with Lozada’s (past) relationship failures ignited a sense of fear for the famed TV personality.
But… she didn’t hesitate to mention that Lewis has been showing up and showing out so far–even though she resides in Los Angeles, and he’s still in Atlanta.
Lozada gushed,
“LaVon has been very proactive [in] making sure he gets on a plane to come visit [me].”
Apparently, the duo has already become ‘one big happy family,’ as Lewis’ teenage son and Lozada’s 8-year-old son, Leo, with 1501 Certified CEO Carl Crawford hit it off instantly. Eventually, their end goal is to relish in married life under one roof, but (until then) they’re making it work… coast-to-coast.
Lozada–who’s infamously known for her nasty, public breakup with NFL retiree Chad Ochocinco–is excited to step into this new chapter of her life, as she opened up about the bliss of finding her knight in shining armor after 40.
She said,
“Sometimes… as women, you think, ‘Oh, I’m forty! My life is over!’ But [just] keep working at it. Never give up on love.”
Lozada continued:
“I’ve never experienced this energy. In hindsight, it’s clear… I had the wrong person in my life.”
The same goes for Lewis, who deemed Lozada “the most amazing woman” he’s stumbled across. He seemed to have his own reservations about the experience but is now overjoyed to have taken the sudden leap of faith.
The former contestant shared,
“Before the show started, I told my friends that I don’t believe in the process. I came on the show thinking, ‘They called me, this is a new adventure. It’ll be fun. I’m a pretty private, introverted person, but why not do something new?”
Lewis later concluded:
“I didn’t think I would go into it and come out with a wife. But look at what happens when you open yourself up and challenge yourself and step up to the plate!”
Additionally, Lozada stood firm in saying that she has “never experienced this energy” from any other man before Lewis.
Congratulations on the forthcoming newlyweds!
‘Queens Court’ proved to be beneficial for the whole cast, as Tamar Braxton was also rumored to be in a serious courtship with one of her prospects, Atlanta-based attorney Jeremy Robinson, sometime last year.
The 10-episode series is now streaming on Peacock.
