Chris Rock’s Brother Tony Rock Says That Despite Will Smith’s Claims, He Did Not Reach Out After Oscars Slap: ‘That Wasn’t True’
Chris Rock’s brother, Tony Rock, claims Will Smith lied about reaching out to the comedian following the infamous Oscars slap last year.
During a recent appearance on BigBoyTV, Tony Rock cleared up a few things, claiming that Will Smith did not call Chris Rock a few days after the incident as the actor previously claimed.
Tony Rock said,
“That wasn’t true, that wasn’t true. I think like, two nights later, [Smith] said, ‘I reached out to Chris, and he didn’t want to talk.’ That wasn’t true.”

Tony Rock also shared he’s surprised that Will Smith never reached out to him either, as the two have previously worked together.
Tony explained,
“He doesn’t owe me anything, I just thought we were better than that. My phone number has never changed. So, I just thought I’d get a phone call one day like, ‘Ay, let’s just you and I just talk.’ It hasn’t happened, so I guess it’s not going to happen.”
As previously reported, last March during the Academy Awards, Will Smith, 54, slapped Chris Rock, 58, after the comedian made a controversial joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, 51.
Following the slap, Smith was banned from participating in the awards ceremony for 10 years after resigning on his own. The entertainer made several public apologies to the Academy, colleagues, and Rock for the regretful moment.

Last month, Chris Rock dropped his new Netflix comedy special, “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” in which he spoke candidly about being slapped by Will Smith.
The comedian joked,
“Y’all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. People are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear.”
Chris Rock continued,
“But I’m not a victim baby, you will never see me on Oprah or Gayle crying, you will never see it. Never going to happen… No, I took that hit like Pacquiao.”
