Head Coach Doc Rivers Trends After Being Fired By 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly fired head coach Doc Rivers.
According to reports, the 76ers made the decision on Tuesday (May 16) after their Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The loss eliminated the 76ers from the postseason after it had held a 3-2 series lead.
Doc Rivers, 61, coached the 76ers for three seasons. He led the team to the Eastern Conference semifinals during his time on the job, but Philadelphia was eliminated in each of his three seasons.

76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said in a statement,
“Doc is one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, a future Hall of Famer, and someone I respect immensely. We’re grateful for all he did in his three seasons here and thank him for the important impact he made on our franchise. After having the chance to reflect upon our season, we decided that certain changes are necessary to further our goals of competing for a championship.”
Doc Rivers delivered a 154-82 record, including 54 victories in 2022-23. Reportedly, Rivers has spent 24 seasons as an NBA head coach for the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and 76ers.
In 2000, Rivers was named Coach of the Year with the Magic. In 2008, he coached the Celtics to the NBA championship and led them to the NBA Finals again in 2010. In 2012, he led the Celtics to the conference finals but lost the championship to the Miami Heat.
