Latto Explains Why She Continues To Keep Boyfriend’s Identity Hidden: ‘Everything Else Has To Be Front & Center In My Life’

Latto has finally shared why she likes to keep her relationship under wraps with her mystery man.

During a new interview, rapper Latto opened up about her decision to keep her boyfriend’s identity private. The 24-year-old entertainer also explained why maintaining a low-profile relationship is vital for her. Latto, real name, Alyssa Stephens, said,

“If something is special to me, I’m going to keep it close to me because everything else has to be front and center about my life.”

The “Big Energy” rapper then shared that although her unknown beau has surprised her at one of her shows before, “it’s not a consistent thing” that he does regularly, noting the importance of her privacy. She said,

“I think we find the beauty in separation sometimes because it makes us miss each other. My privacy is more important [than seeing him in the crowd]. I can’t have people putting two and two together. This is the longest relationship I’ve ever been in.” 

While she’s never confirmed her partner’s name, Latto has reportedly known him since she was a teenager. When speaking on the importance of having time for herself, she explained,

“I let him have his time and he lets me have mine. We trust each other,” 

She continued,

“When he’s at home, like now, he’s probably gambling with his friends. I let him do him. We’ve built that trust, and I think people will probably be caught off guard or shocked at who I am in a relationship versus my public persona.”

Latto added,

“People think I’m so tough because I’m super confident and dominant. In this relationship at least, I’m way more comfortable with taking the passenger seat and letting him lead because he lets me be myself—and I can still be my alpha self. But I respect him as a man to play the man role. And I’m really in my soft girl era.”

Although the Atlanta artist has not dropped a name yet, it’s highly speculated that she’s dating rapper 21 Savage, 30. Rumors that the fellow rappers are an item were fueled after fans noticed Latto’s ear tattoo that looks a lot like 21 Savage’s legal first name. The ink was spotted on a previously posted video of Latto getting her hair styled.

As previously reported, Latto seemingly has the word “sheya” tattooed behind her earlobe. The initial image that surfaced online doesn’t show the entire tat. However, many have assumed it’s related to 21 Savage’s real name, Shéyaa Abraham-Joseph.

However, back in December, 21 addressed his own dating situation, claiming he doesn’t “have a celebrity girlfriend.” While on a Clubhouse session, the “Her Loss” maker said,

“I have been hot for a long time. I don’t do all the antics and sh*t. I don’t got a celebrity girlfriend.”
