Vanessa Bryant Awarded $1.5 Million In Legal Fees After Successfully Defending Kobe Bryant Against Former Employee Who Sued Him Over An Alleged Commission Agreement
The Kobe Bryant estate continues to collect courtroom wins.
According to reports, the late NBA star’s wife Vanessa Bryant won over a million dollars in legal fees after continuing a lawsuit that was started before the athlete’s tragic death.

Reportedly, former President of Kobe Inc. Molly Carter, filed a suit against Kobe Bryant mid 2019, six months before his passing. Carter reportedly accused her former boss of owing her $8,000,000 from they made back inĀ from 2013. According to her, the deal was struck when Bryant invested $6 million in the sports drink company, BodyArmor, which eventually sold to Coca Cola, reportedly earning the Laker’s giant a $400 million return.

The report states that Carter says Bryant promised her a 2% commission, which the NBA champ quickly refuted. That’s when Carter launched the suit, which had seemingly been at a standstill following his death. As we reported, the famed athlete tragically passed away in a helicopter accident along with his daughter Gianna back in 2020.

Following his death, Bryant’s wife and children’s mother Vanessa Bryant has been handling his legal affairs with major successes. Arguably, her most meaningful win has been against the police officers who shared images of her families crash site. For the case against Carter, it seems the Bryant winning streak did not run dry. Vanessa reportedly not only successfully disputed Carter’s suit, but was also awarded fees from a counterclaim.
The report notes that Vanessa stated in the countersuit that Carter “violated the duty of loyalty and the non-disparagement clause” by trash-talking her family. She alleged that Carter referred to her late husband as an “a**hole,” a “douche nugget,” and a “d*ck wad.” Additionally, Vanessa says Carter referred to her as the “f***ing devil,” “b*tch” and “PSYCHO”. As if it couldn’t get worse, Carter is also accused of making racially charged statements, such as “[it’s] a lot of fancy-a** Black people] while riding a private jet to an NBA game, and mocking their infant daughter as having “botox lips”.

At the end of the suit – which went to arbitration, Vanessa was reportedly awarded $1.5 million in legal fees with Carter’s suit against the estate dropped. Her legal team is reportedly seeking an Orange County Superior Court judge to ratify the award.
