‘RHOA’ Star Sanya Richards-Ross Shares Emotional Journey To Become A Mom Of Two After Suffering Miscarriage: ‘I’m So Ready To Meet This Little One’
Sanya Richards-Ross‘ motherhood journey has not been an easy one.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta peach bearer is currently expecting her second child, but alas, this isn’t the pregnancy viewers will witness in season 15. Sanya Richards-Ross, 38, revealed in a recent interview that she miscarried almost two months after finding out she was pregnant. As you may recall, the pregnancy was hinted at in the mid-season trailer that debuted earlier this month.

The Olympic track and field champion shared,
“It was very traumatic. I was in New York and had a really bad miscarriage. I had to go to the hospital. I had to have a blood transfusion. It was very, very, very scary.”
Sanya Richards-Ross said miscarrying was “awful,” considering she already opened her heart to becoming a mother [again]. She and husband Aaron Ross, a former NFL star, are already parents to their son Aaron Jermaine, who will turn six next month.

For Richards-Ross, who had been hesitant to have another child after finally finding stability following years of significant changes in her life, the miscarriage put everything in perspective. She said,
“I think a lot of women can relate to this too, but when you become a mom, you can sometimes question, ‘What’s my identity now going to be outside of the home?’ I had been an athlete, competing across the world while representing Team USA. Then, after retiring from sports and having a son, all these life changes hit Ross and I simultaneously. It was like a tornado hit our relationship for that 14 years prior to having our son was like a honeymoon at the time. And It was really overwhelming.”
She noted that she and her husband loved being parents, but,
“all these years in, we had just gotten into a good rhythm where we finally figured out how we wanted to parent.”

The traumatic loss made Richards-Ross realize how much she really wanted to have another child and how blessed she was to already be a mom.
Richards-Ross was fortunate enough to become pregnant again about a month later — and her son couldn’t be happier. She said,
“When I tell you my son was asking for this literally every day. ‘I want to be a big brother. I want to be a big brother.’ So he was over the moon when we shared with him that I was pregnant. And then, we had to tell him we had lost the baby, which was the hardest part. He fell to his knees, and he was crying. That was really, really hard.”
Richards-Ross is currently four months pregnant with a due date of December 25, 2023. And for curious minds, she just might share the baby’s sex at the RHOA reunion, which is filming Thursday (July 27).
“It’s going to be the best Christmas gift ever. But I just couldn’t be happier and more clear about. I know I can do this. I’ve done it before. I have the support. I know what to expect. I’m so ready to meet this little one.”
