Social Media Reacts To Montgomery Waterfront Brawl Seemingly Started By White Family Who Jumped Black Dock Worker: ‘If You Come For One Of Us, Be Ready For All Of Us!’

A chaotic scene from a recent riverfront fight in Alabama is making waves on the internet.

Footage showing a significant number of individuals engaging in full out fist brawls has social media users chiming in with their thoughts.

According to an alleged witness, the situation began Saturday evening (August 5th) after a pontoon boat refused to move in accordance to a dock worker. In what seems to be the introduction to the fight videos, a shirtless white man and a Black man who appears to be in a uniform are in a heated confrontation. The worker throws off his hat before being struck by the shirtless man, who soon gets reinforcements. Subsequently, a group of 4 white individuals charge the alleged dock worker, with one of them tackling him to the floor. They get off a number of punches as people in the video can be heard screaming for someone to help him.

It wasn’t long before help did indeed arrive. A single man first intervenes, trying to pull the assailants off the worker before they seemingly turn their aggression towards him. After he successfully separates most of the agitators from the dock employee, the worker is able to get up and seems to charge at his assailants. As the video continues, more and more individuals appear on the dock, seemingly in efforts to right the wrongs done to the dock worker. One individual even swims fully across the water to help rectify the situation. Before you know it, the waterfront is filled with individuals seemingly seeking vengeance against the workers assailants.

Angles from the fight shows some individuals approach the assailants boat, bringing the fight directly to them. Another angle shows one vengeance seeker picking up a chair and aggressively bashing several of the assailants over the head. Eventually, police appear in the video and begin making arrests. According to a local news report, police say they have issued 4 arrest warrants related to the brawl and expect more may be released soon.

Earlier today, the cities Mayor Steven L. Reed reportedly issued a statement that read:

“Last night, the Montgomery Police Department acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job. Warrants have been signed and justice will be served. This was an unfortunate incident which never should have occurred. As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community. Those who choose violent actions will be held accountable by our criminal Justice system.”

While police are reportedly still investigating the situation, social media has uncovered a few facts. The young dock worker who swam across the water to assist his co-worker was identified as a 16-year-old boy named Aaren. His parents reportedly shared a statement to their Facebook page allowing addressing their young “hero” in the situation.

The identities of the family involved have also been speculated online, but have not been unconfirmed by authorities at this time. Despite the violent nature of the situation, it seems a great amount of individuals were pleased to see so many come to the aid of someone in need. A lot of users even inquired about donating to different funds to support the victim and his helpers. Overall, social media users continue to debate the elicit video even now, and #Montgomery continues to be a trending topic as this article is being written.
