Beyoncé Slammed By Australian Musician Kylie Minogue’s Fans For Seemingly “Ripping-Off” Her 2002 Robotic Woman Costume For Her Renaissance Tour: ‘The Most Unoriginal Artist Of The Last 2 Decades’
Fans of Australian entertainer Kylie Minogue have taken issue with Beyoncé.
After a recent clip from the singer’s “Renaissance Tour” made its way around the internet, some online users claim her robot woman theatric is a direct rip off from one of Minogue’s earlier performances.

The original performance in question was reportedly a 2002 show where Kylie Minogue, 55, came on stage with her body incased in a robot costume. Mirroring nearly exactly the same movements as what happened in Beyoncé’s recent show, the metallic pieces of the costume open one by one, starting from the thighs, to the breasts and head. In both scenarios, the singers are released and emerge to begin their performance.
Though the account who posted the video footage from Beyoncé’s world tour seems to believe she was paying homage to Minogue, many felt as though the performance was actually just theft. Users noted that the 41-year-old didn’t address her fellow musician, suggesting that homage was not her intent. One user wrote:
“Not homage, just a rip-off”

While another added:
“It annoys me how much artists steal from Kylie and she just doesn’t get the recognition for it!”
A few others seemed to have shared the same opinion.

Despite some’s criticism of Beyoncé, there were certainly some social media users who came to the singer’s defense. In one post, a social media user shared an image from the 1927 film Metropolis, which inspiration for the robot woman apparently comes. A few commenters felt that the robot woman trope is reused so often that it’s unfair to claim that Minogue’s performance as an original idea.

Another user simply pointed out the recurring futuristic theme of the “Renaissance Tout”, arguing that Beyoncé is referencing no one but herself.

Whether or not the “Break My Soul” singer did in fact draw inspiration from Minogue’s performance will likely remain a speculation for the time being. Despite this, it’s certain that supporters of the musician will continue to flock to her remaining shows. As we reported earlier this month, Beyoncé’s recent performances in Los Angeles and Inglewood California drew quite the A-listers. Some celebs who were spotted include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Lizzo, Keke Palmer, Tyler Perry, and many more.

As far as Minogue goes it doesn’t seem the “Fever” artist has responded to the recent controversy. Fans could possibly get a collab between the two, however, as one report states that it’s rumored Beyoncé will take her tour to Australia once her US stops conclude.
