Aoki Lee Simmons Stands By Decision To Publicly Blast Her Dad Russell Simmons For Allegedly Being Verbally Abusive: ‘I Don’t Regret It’

Aoki Lee Simmons is standing ten toes down on her public critiques of her father Russell Simmons.

As previously reported, Aoki Lee Simmons and her mother Kimora Lee Simmons made headlines in June for calling out Russell Simmons on his alleged questionable behavior and verbal abuse. It’s been months since then and it seems the socialite still feels the same way. In her latest interview, Aoki Lee Simmons shared that she does not regret her decision to publically blast her father. She stated: 

“I don’t regret it’

She also explained why she decided to share her frustrations with her dad online:

“Part of it was already out there. There were reasons I thought it was reasonable to publish, because it was playing out in, like, a silent bubble.”

You may recall that Aoki’s older sister, Ming Lee Simmons, seemingly exposed Russell earlier this year as well by penning a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ post to their mother, Kimora Lee Simmons, instead of the hip-hop mogul. In addition, the women of the Simmons family detailed stories of alleged mistreatment that they endured over the years at the hands of Russell. During their public ousting, the 21-year-old model released concerning text messages and screen recordings of conversations with her father.  

After being called out by his ex and daughters, Russell Simmons eventually responded with an apology that said: 

“God is testing you a little bit, it’s ok, be strong. . . they are called growing pains . . . as you know, we grow through adversity and struggle . . . you read my books and heard me preach your whole childhood . . . reach back to old lessons and remember to remember “smile and breathe” [heart emoji] “smile and breathe” . . .”

He added,

“you are the watchers of this world . . . so let go . . . be at ease . . . God is driving and he is working on you [heart emoji] DEEPLY sorry for being frustrated and yelling . . .but know this . . . there are no conditions . . . for sure i love you guys more than i love myself”

Despite going to the public to address Russell, the Harvard Graduate explained in her interview that they are still a “normal family.” Aoki also declined to comment on the various allegations against her father for inappropriate sexual misconduct out of consideration for all parties involved. Russell has previously denied all allegations made against him.
