Prayers for rapper Tory Lanez.
According to inside sources, the Canada native is having a hard time adjusting to prison life as he believes his celebrity status will make him a target among inmates.

A recent report from Page Six discussed the musician’s anxiety about being jailed amongst a slew of “hardcore criminals”. Reportedly, an inside source shared that Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, has very serious concerns that he could be brutally attacked while serving out his sentence. The source reportedly told the news outlet:
“Tory is scared for his life and safety in prison. He feels like he is an instant and direct target because of his celebrity status,”

Adding:
“He is housed with real hardcore criminals, murderers. So he is really hoping that his lawyers will be able to continue to fight for his freedom while still maintaining his innocence. The whole thing is a mess.”
It seems that Lanez’ concerns are not only in his head. Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff who has covered the trial since it began recently spoke about the story from Page Six, explaining there is some validity to the rapper’s fears. She wrote:
“This is why protective custody exists. Someone who’s been to prison three times told me, “They (CDC) will never allow that dude to walk mainline, level 4 or 3 for sure, they would kill him his first day on the yard. … Cali is stacked with hitters. No other state is like it.”

The outlet seemingly confirms Cuniff’s point about Lanez‘ having extra security while incarcerated, stating that his jailers are closely monitoring him to lessen his chances of a dangerous encounter. Reportedly, the 31-year-old is being held in an “Administrative Segregation” which reportedly keeps him away from most inmates. Additionally, it’s reported that he is personally escorted to his showers where he bathes alone, and has the option of spending time in the prison yard where he is also alone if he chooses to do so.

It was also noted, however, that there was an inmate in the prison who was recently found guilty of murdering his cell mate, highlighting the potential dangers of the facility. Lanez’s stay at the North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif will reportedly come to an end soon though. The courts are reportedly only deciding where he should serve out the remainder of his sentence. In case you’re unfamiliar with the case, Lanez was found guilty of 3 felony charges after shooting fellow rapper Megan ‘Thee Stallion’ Pete, 28 back in 2020. Subsequently, he was sentenced to 10 years in jail, though there have been several reports that his lawyers plan to continue their appeal process after initially being denied a bond.
The inside source reportedly stated that Lanez‘s family have been attempting to keep his spirits high despite the circumstance. They reportedly stated:
“His family is concerned for him as well, especially his dad. He has been in contact with his family, and they are all trying to keep his spirits up.”

Adding:
“He definitely had his moments where he has teared up…[and is] realizing who his real friends are.”
At this time it doesn’t seem that Lanez‘s attorney’s have spoken about his concerns in jail at this time.
