NBA Star Damian Lillard’s Estranged Wife Wants Sole Custody of Their 3 Children, Says She’s Been Responsible For their Care Since Birth
It looks like Damian Lillard‘s soon-to-be ex-wife isn’t going to let him off easily.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Kay’La Lillard is demanding sole custody of their three children — Damian Jr., 4, and tw0-year-old twins Kali, a girl, and Kalii, a boy — following the NBA player’s decision to file for divorce.
A declaration filed on October 6 said,
“It is in the children’s best interests that I be awarded sole custody. I am best positioned to address the ongoing needs of our minor children. I have been responsible for the children’s care since their birth.”
She alleged that the Milwaukee Bucks star has,
“never been the sole parent responsible for the care of all three of our children, for any hours-long period of time without the help of nannies, assistants, and/or family members.”
Damian Lillard filed for divorce on October 2, just days after he was traded from the Portland Trailblazers to the Bucks. Kay’La included her estranged husband’s basketball schedule in her filing, alleging he is too busy to handle parental obligations if given sole custody.

Kay’La said she wants Damian Lillard to have a healthy relationship with their children, which is why she continued to play along with the image he presented to the public.
The documents stated,
“I understand he is busy and has many commitments he must attend to. I also understand that the brand ‘Damian Lillard’ needs to continue with an image of a family-man. Despite our separation for several months, I have continued to support that image to the public.”
According to Kay’La, she and the professional athlete worked out a temporary parenting time schedule in August and September, however, there were issues during both months. She added there is currently no custody plan in place.
She wants to discuss a custody arrangement with Damian, requesting the court intervene if needed. If a disputed court appearance is necessary to resolve their difficulties, she is also requesting Damian pay her legal bills.
Her legal filing added,
“With Father’s relocation to Wisconsin, and my relocation, a parenting plan will need to take into account travel for the children.”
Damian revealed in his divorce documents that the couple has an ironclad prenuptial agreement that was signed just before their wedding day in September 2021.
