Jussie Smollett Spotted w/”Narcotics Anonymous” Book Amid Reports He’s Checked Into Rehab + His Fake Crime Accomplices Suggest He’s Attempting To Draw Sympathy Ahead Of Conviction Appeal
Looks like Jussie Smollett has reemerged in public following his rehab admission.
The actor was spotted recently seemingly leaving a medical facility with a book that suggests why he opted for rehab.
Photo’s recently taken of Jussie Smollett, 41, pictured him donning a black hoodie, hat, sunglasses, and sweatpants with a white t-shirt as he appears to reportedly be leaving an outpatient facility. The entertainer tightly holds a book labeled “Narcotics Anonymous” in the photo, insinuating the TV star may be struggling with a drug abuse problem. As we covered a couple of days ago, a rep for Smollett shared that he submitted himself to a rehab center recently to get help after an “extremely difficult” past couple of years.
Though the rep didn’t state the exact problem Smollett was dealing with, up until now it’s reportedly been assumed he was battling alcohol abuse. However, the new images suggest he’s facing something more. In light of his celebrity and criminal status, it’s no wonder where the hardship stems from. If you recall Smollett received widespread public scrutiny and a 150 day jail sentence after staging a hate crime and lying to Chicago police about the ordeal back in 2019.
His alleged attackers, which the actor claimed were racist homophobic Donald Trump supporters, turned out to be Nigerian brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo. The siblings testified in a criminal trial that they were hired by the “Empire” star to stage the attack to boost his street credit, ultimately leading to his guilty conviction. Smollett reportedly only served a few days in jail before a judge granted his bail while he appeals the ruling, which he’s been out on since. The Osundairo brothers recently reacted to his rehab news, giving their suspicion around the timing of it.
During a recent interview with TMZ, the siblings suspected that Smollett is using his alleged need for treatment to draw sympathy while appealing his conviction. One of them stated:
“I find it very interesting that he decided to check in at this moment on the verge of the appeal being decided upon and I think you yourself and anyone with a brain can find it a little suspicious that it’s this moment that he’s used,”
“I’m not the only one that’s skeptical…it seems a little suspicious that he’s doing it especially at this time you could have checked in two years ago you could have checked in one year ago you could have checked in eight months ago but it’s now you want to check in …on the heels of when the verdict is about to come out…probably to get house arrest or something …to show that he has an issue a problem going on and that that will help his case,”
