Tyler Perry’s Ex Pens Heartfelt Message About Having The Opportunity To Co-Direct A Documentary On His Life: ‘I Am Beyond Grateful For This Moment’
The world is about to get an inside look at “Maxine’s Baby,” better known as Tyler Perry!
A documentary that will chronicle the life of iconic filmmaker Tyler Perry is scheduled to be released next month, and his former longtime girlfriend/mother of his child, Gelila Bekele, just so happened to be a part of the anticipated project.
In a recent Instagram post, co-director Gelila Bekele opened up about her emotions surrounding the forthcoming film and the hard work that has gone into its production.
Under a slide of photos that featured her and Tyler Perry alongside Oprah, ‘Selma’ actor David Oyelowo, and her co-leader Armani Ortiz, among others, at the premiere, she shared,
“Standing next to Mavericks. I am beyond grateful for this moment, To be standing here as a Director, presenting a film we worked on for nearly ten years. So much love and gratitude for everyone who has been [a] part of this journey.”
Gelila Bekele added:
“@tylerperry tremendous gratitude for allowing us the privilege of telling your story.”
‘Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story’ is set to hit Prime Video on November 17.
The awaited documentary delves into the early makings of 54-year-old Perry’s over-two-decades-long career in the entertainment industry and briefly touches on his traumatic upbringing in the gritty city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Born Emmitt Perry Jr., the illustrious media mogul is most known for his legendary plays that spawned the character “Madea,” a boisterous, gun-toting elderly woman in the South who serves as the colorful matriarch of a dynamic family.
‘Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story’ pays homage to his late mother, Willie Maxine Perry, who died in 2009.
Although model Bekele and Perry are reportedly no longer together, they share a toddler son, Aman.
