Timbaland & Kandi Burruss Show Support To Justin Timberlake After Britney Spears Accused Him Of Using A Blaccent In Her Memoir: ‘Nobody Knew It Was A Problem’
Looks like music vets Kandi Burruss and Timbaland aren’t here for all the Justin Timberlake slander.
Amid separate appearances, they both recently defended the pop singer after he was criticized for allegedly using a fake Black accent back in the day.
As previously reported, pop icon Britney Spears, 41, made some bold claims against her former beau Justin Timberlake, 42, in her memoir that dropped last month. In the book, she spoke about getting an abortion due to pressure from the NSYNC member and also alleged that the entertainer used to use a blaccent to “fit it” with popular Black artists of the time. An audio clip of Spears‘ recollection of the accent went viral as the story made headlines, drawing a lot of backlash for Timberlake.

According to Timbaland, however, Timberlake could have avoided the criticism if he just “put a muzzle on” his ex. While recently speaking with 9th Wonder at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, he added:
“We live in the age of social media and [going] viral, everybody wants to go viral. I get it ’cause that’s the way you make money.”
Timbaland says Justin Timberlake should have put a “muzzle” on Britney Spears, following the release of her memoir:
“I wanted to call JT and say 'Man! You should have put a muzzle on that girl.'”

Over the weekend during Bravocon, Kandi Burruss was also asked about her thoughts on Spears claiming Timberlake would talk differently when speaking to Black artists. The singer stated:
“I thought it was funny…I don’t want anybody to, like, [put] down Justin because you’ve got to remember the times that we were going through at the time. That era of pop and R&B, it was a lot of boy bands that did, like, urban music, urban routines and dancing, the whole image. That was in at the time, and nobody was passing judgment.”
She continued:
“Right now I feel like everything we used to do back in the day people are getting canceled for now…at that time nobody knew it was like a problem.”
Burruss then stated that she feels that was “young Justin,” adding that people should “leave him alone” as he’s one of the more pleasant artists that she’s worked with. With an extensive career in hit-making, writing for big names such as Christina Aguilera, TLC, and Destiny’s Child as well as NSYNC, for the boy band to be at the top of Burruss‘ list for well-mannered collabs certainly speaks volumes. However, that didn’t prevent social media users from taking issue with Timberlake’s alleged use of an imitating accent.
At this time, Timberlake has not addressed the controversy surrounding the topic publicly.
