Ice Spice Names Usher As Her Childhood Celebrity Crush: ‘Gorgeous Man’
R&B singer Usher had all the ladies in love back in the day, including a young Ice Spice.
The 23-year-old recently shared that the famed singer was her celebrity crush growing up during a sit-down conversation with fellow rapper Doja Cat.

It seems the two rap stars were discussing their youthful puppy love during an episode of Instagram’s “Close Friends Only” podcast. After Doja Cat, real name Amala Dlamini, 28, read a question asking the musicians to share who they were crushing on before their stardom, Ice Spice, real name Isis Naija Gaston, claimed her answer would be “so embarrassing.”

After some encouragement from the “Attention” artist, however, she stated:
“I’m just going to say it, it was Usher.”

And continued:
“I saw him at the Met Gala…For the first time I ever seen him. I’m like ‘oh my God it’s him.'”

After Doja remarked that the chart-topping musician is in fact “beautiful,” Ice Spice added:
“Gorgeous man”
With Usher having turned 45 back in October, that puts a 22-year age gap between him and the “Munch” artist, which explains the rapper being infatuated at a young age. Since bursting onto the music scene at the age of 16, Usher has maintained a consistency in his career that not many artists can achieve. The hitmaker scored his first #1 single in 1997 with the record “Nice & Slow” from his sophomore album “My Way,” and continued to see mainstream success with his follow-up projects.
In 2004, Usher cemented himself as one of the best-selling recording artists of the 2000s decade with the release of his album “Confession.” The project featured some notable collabs, including the singles “My Boo” with Alicia Keys and “Yeah” featuring Ludacris and Lil Jon. To date, Usher has gone on to sell over 80 million records worldwide, establishing himself as one of the best-selling artists of all time. The R&B star’s extensive catalog will be on full display in front of millions this February as he’s been tapped as the next Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner.
