Update: Keke Palmer’s Ex-Boyfriend Darius Jackson Obeys Court Order To Surrender Guns To Police

Update#2: (Jan. 18, 2024): Keke Palmer’s baby’s daddy has reportedly turned over his firearms to police.

As previously reported, The Emmy Award winner was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary sole custody of the child she shares with Darius Jackson in November 2023. The protection order was put in place after Keke, 30, claimed her now-ex was very abusive toward her throughout their relationship. Earlier this month the order was extended by six months as the pair’s follow-up court hearing was delayed to give them time to engage “in mediation before a private judge.”

One of the requirements of the restraining order was for Jackson to surrender his guns to authorities and, according to a recent report from RadarOnline, the 29-year-old did just that. The report notes that Jackson turned over his gun, Glock 34 magazines, a speed loader, a cleaning rod, literature/manual, and a Glock case to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on November 11.

Their next court date has reportedly been set for July 16.

Update#1: (Jan. 10, 2024): Keke Palmer recently scored a minor win in her ongoing legal battle against her baby’s father, Darius Jackson.

As previously reported, in November 2023 Keke was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary sole custody of the baby boy she shares with Darius after she claimed the fitness enthusiast was physically and verbally abusive toward her throughout their two-year relationship.

Initially, the former couple was due back in court on December 5 to determine if the temporary restraining order would become permanent. However, the hearing was reportedly postponed in hopes that mediation would help settle their issues.

Their joint filing reportedly read:

“[The parties] are concurrently filing a Stipulation and Order to continue The Court’s Order to Participate in Mediation currently set for November 29, 2023, and Petitioner’s Request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order, which is currently set for December 5, 2023, to allow the parties time to attend mediation.”

They were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (Jan. 9) but mutually agreed to push the hearing back again because they are “engaged in mediation before a private judge,” according to court documents. As a result, Keke was granted a 6-month extension on her domestic violence restraining order against Darius.

Their new court date has been set for July 16.

At this time it doesn’t seem that either party has addressed the latest on the case.

Original Story: (Dec. 1, 2023): Actress Keke Palmer and her former boo Darius Jackson are moving to handle their legal situation privately.

The co-parents have reportedly asked a court judge to postpone their upcoming restraining order/custody battle case, citing their intentions to first attend mediation sessions.

Keke Palmer, Darius Jackson & Their Son

Radar Online reports that Lauren ‘KekePalmer 30, and Darius Jackson, 29, wrote in a recent court motion that they would like time to see if they can settle the issues of their relationship privately. The pair are reportedly scheduled to appear before a judge next week on December 5th so the “Nope” star can make her case as to why her temporary restraining order should be kept in place. If you recall, Palmer was awarded temporary sole custody of her infant son Leo, whom she shares with Jackson, after accusing him of being increasingly physically and verbally abusive.

However, it seems the two have agreed to try and hash the matter out just between themselves first.

Adding:

“The parties request that the Mediation and Petitioner’s DVRO be continued on a mutually agreeable date,”

For anyone familiar with Palmer, the decision to try and privatize the proceeding moving forward doesn’t come as much of a shock. Historically, the TV and film star is rather coy about the specifics of her personal life. As everyone wondered if the two had broken up following Jackson mom shaming his then girlfriend over an outfit she wore to an Usher concert, the actress defiantly told people to “mind y’all’s business“. The pair were spotted out celebrating Palmer’s birthday some time before, though she wouldn’t confirm or deny if they were still romantically involved.

However, the relationship went completely viral after Palmer accused her ex of being physically abusive with her on more than one occasion. She wrote in her initial restraining order request that Jackson had choked her, hit her, and even alleged that he was once was rough with their son after becoming frustrated with his crying. Her recount, along with pictures and a police report, led a judge to quickly grant her request. Though by looking at the new motion, it seems the exes may be in a better place.

A judge has reportedly not yet ruled on the matter.
