Jennifer Lopez Reveals Ayo Edebiri Tearfully Apologized After Past Insults About The Singer Resurfaced: ‘She Was Mortified’
Jennifer Lopez and Emmy-winner Ayo Edebiri can finally put the past behind them.
Earlier this month, “The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri’s past comments insulting Jennifer Lopez resurfaced just days before she hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ with the musical artist as a guest on Feb. 3.

In 2020, Ayo Edebiri said she believed Jennifer Lopez’s musical career was “one long scam,” adding that the musical icon “can’t sing” on a podcast.
Ayo said,
“Well, that’s the thing. She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her. I think she thinks that’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.”
She added,
“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J’ Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio,’ ‘like J. Lo was busy. It’s like, ‘Doing what?’ ‘not singing, obviously!”
Four years later, Lopez, also known as J. Lo, seems unbothered by the remarks.

In her Variety cover story published on Tuesday (Feb. 13), she said,
“It’s funny. I’ve heard similar things said about me throughout my career, so it really didn’t affect me.”

The singer and actress also revealed Ayo earnestly apologized to her before they appeared on ‘Saturday Night Live’ together.
J. Lo recalled,
“She was mortified and very sweet. She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things.”
The Grammy-winning artist continued,
“She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck, and she actually got to hear me perform. She was just like, ‘I’m so f*king sorry; it was so awful of me.'”
The Emmy-winner joked in a skit titled, “Why’d You Say It,”
“It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid.”
