Simon Guobadia’s Company Ordered To Pay Nearly $900K In Unpaid Private Jet Bill Amid Porsha Williams Divorce, Says He Is ‘Confident’ They Will ‘Ultimately Settle’ The Dispute

Update #3 (May 1, 2024): Simon Guobadia’s divorce from Porsha Williams isn’t his only legal woe.

The 59-year-old businessman’s Simcol Petroleum Limited Company has been ordered to pay $887,000 in an unpaid private jet bill.

The six-figure fee came down after Simon Guobadia’s company failed to respond to NetJets Aviation, Inc.’s lawsuit, according to court docs obtained by Radar Online on Tuesday (April 30).

NetJets has a “fractional aircraft program,” which “engages in the business of selling and leasing fractional interests in private jets in the NetJets Fractional Program.” Under the program, multiple people and companies can own the same jet.

In 2020, Simon Guobadia’s company entered an agreement with NetJets for a Cessna Citation plane with 12.5% interest. That rate later went up to 15.62%.

NetJets accused Simcol of not keeping its end of the deal, stating in the lawsuit,

“Defendants breached the terms of the Program Agreement by failing to timely pay to Plaintiffs all amounts due under the Program Agreement, and Plaintiffs terminated the Program Agreement under its terms on or about February 28, 2023. At the time of the termination of the Program Agreement, Defendant owed to Plaintiffs the amount of $974,213.11 under the terms of the Program Agreement.”

It added that its company and Simcol settled the dispute in August, with both parties agreeing that Simcol would pay $839,000 via monthly payments. Simcol allegedly only paid the first installment of $25,000 but has yet to pay the rest. NetJets said Simcol still owes $814,000 plus interest.

As theJasmineBRAND previously reported, the private jet company served Simcol in February, however, he never responded. The court has now entered a default judgment against the petroleum company. Simon Guobadia reacted to the news and told Radar Online,

“Net Jet sued for unused “Managements & Monthly Fee” for the remaining years of a 5-year contract. These Fees are NOT related to ACTUAL travel, but rather what they deem they were entitled to under the terms of the 5-year contract. I initially requested that the contract be amended to reflect what my ACTUAL needs were. My travel needs had changed significantly from domestically to mostly international. They were amenable to changes or terminate, and then sued. I’m confident we will ultimately settle in the cause of doing business. It is not uncommon to have business disputes and I’m very comfortable in having them resolved in due time.”

Update #2 (Feb. 26, 2024): The legal issues keep rolling in for Porsha Williams Guobadia’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Simon Guobadia.

A private jet company is now suing the Nigerian businessman for $974,213.11. The nearly seven-figure amount comes after he allegedly didn’t make payments on a timeshare jet that he bought from the company back in 2020. With the purchase, Simon Guobadia was able to use the jet at liberty although he didn’t actually own it.

It’s not clear when he allegedly stopped making payments, however, the company is now suing for the lump sum.

Update #1 (Feb. 19): Porsha Williams Guobadia’s husband appears to be unbothered.

On Sunday, hours after reports surfaced that he was denied US citizenship amid fraud allegations, Simon Guobadia shared a couple of carefree snaps on Instagram.

He wrote alongside photos of him wearing sunglasses, a cozy bathrobe, and smoking a cigar,

“i dey kampe, no shaky. Happy Sunday??”

The phrase “i dey kampe” reportedly means, “I am doing well”

Original Story (Feb. 18): Reality TV star Porsha Williams Guobadia will definitely have a lot to clear up amid her return to “Real Housewives Of Atlanta.”

Hope you’re seated because this tea is piping hot! According to a report from Media Takeout, Porsha Williams Guobadia’s husband, Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia, is an infamous scammer with an extensive rap sheet. As you may recall, the love birds tied the knot in 2022 amid Porsha’s break from “RHOA.” However, despite being married to a U.S. citizen, Simon Guobadia’s citizenship claim was recently denied.

According to court documents, an individual with the same full name as Porsha’s hubby, “Simon Iyore Guobadia,” was denied a citizenship claim by the federal court in Atlanta in July 2022 over his history of fraud and deportation. After reportedly requesting a hearing on the matter in October of that year, “the denial was reaffirmed” on November 15, 2022.

Per reports, last March, “Simon” filed an instant complaint, asking the court to “vacate the denial.” However, on January 11 of this year, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) was granted the right to dismiss the case.

Allegedly, the mentioned man — who is suspected to be Porsha’s spouse — first illegally came to America in 1982, then voluntarily left in 1985 after having a few run-ins with the law. That reportedly didn’t stop the “Simon” listed in the documents from (illegally) returning to the States the following year. In 1987, it’s said that “Simon” started scamming people with credit card fraud. He was eventually arrested and pleaded guilty, according to the report.

His crimes continued, however, and, per the court documents,

“He was arrested in January 1989 for unauthorized use of a vehicle and again in May 1990 for fraud. Id. Thereafter, the agency began removal proceedings.”

As he waited to be deported back to Nigeria, the man allegedly used a fake name to apply for temporary residence status through the Special Agricultural Workers (SAW) program, omitting his criminal history in the application.

Given the fake information he provided, “Simon” was reportedly approved for SAW, but, he was still allegedly deported as planned in 1992. Three weeks later he allegedly came back to America under his new alias.

“As part of SAW immigration benefits, Petitioner’s temporary resident status was automatically converted to permanent resident status following the waiting period. See 8 U.S.C. $ 1160(a)(2). Petitioner received his permanent residency card on April 27, 1992-ie., 26-days after he had been deported under his other, undisclosed identity.”

Since then, it’s alleged that “Simon” applied for naturalization under the new identity in both 2016 and 2020 but was rejected both times due to his reported alias scheme.
