Jodie Turner-Smith Opens Up For The First Time About Divorce From Joshua Jackson: ‘Sometimes Things We Really Want To Work Just Don’t End Up Working’

Several months after leaving her ex-husband, actress Jodie Tuner-Smith shared what she’s learned from her marriage.

The 37-year-old was candid when speaking about acceptance and moving from a situation that is no longer good for you while addressing her split from Joshua Jackson for the first time.

Reportedly, when asked about her breakup with Canadian actor Joshua Jackson, 45, during a recent interview, Jodie Tuner-Smith stated:

“Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK…The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children,”

She continued:

“There are so many different moments in our life where we look at ourselves and say, ‘Who am I and am I being true to that?…If the answer is no, then you have to make a move because I believe that there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us…And they don’t just affect us, they affect everybody around us.”

If you recall, the “Queen & Slim” star filed for divorce from Jackson back in October of last year after three years of marriage. The ex-couple share only one child together, 3-year-old daughter Juno Rose Diana Jackson. In initial divorce documents, Tuner-Smith reportedly requested 50/50 shared custody. It was not reported that Jackson opposed the proposal.

While neither spoke publicly about what led to their separation at the time, sources claimed that Jackson was “blindsided” by the divorce. Allegedly, Tuner-Smith went through with filing before he believed the marriage had come to an end. Other sources close to the couple claimed, however, that the actress was simply “unhappy” in the relationship.

To date, Jackson still hadn’t said much about the divorce. It has been speculated, however, that he may have moved on. The actor was spotted out with his good friend Lupita Nyong’o several times following news of his breakup, sparking relationship rumors between the two. Nyongo’o subsequently announced she was also a newly single woman as she and her ex-boo Selema Masekela had broken up around the same time Jackson’s marriage was coming to an end. In January the two actors were seen on a walk holding hands.
