Update: Cardi B’s Best Friend Star Brim Sentenced To 1 Year In Prison & 3 Years Of Supervised Release In RICO Case

Update: (Mar. 12, 2022): Star Brim has finally learned her fate in her RICO trial.

According to new reports, Star Brim (real name Yonette Respass), famously known as the best friend of Cardi B, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Star Brim, who is said to have strong ties to the 5-9 Brims gang, was also given strict orders by the court not to associate with the Bloods or any of its factions upon her release. In addition, she will have to participate in an outpatient mental health treatment program and comply with periodic drug testing once freed. On top of the sentencing terms, she was ordered to immediately pay a special assessment of $100.

Reportedly, Star Brim will have to surrender to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut before 2 p.m. on July 1, 2024.

As you may recall, Star, along with 17 other purported gang members, faced charges under the RICO Act. Prosecutors labeled Star as the “Godmother” in the gang, claiming she was the mastermind behind various criminal activities, including fraud and assault.

Original Story: (Dec. 20, 2022): Star Brim (real name Yonette Respass) is best known as the best friend of Cardi B, but she’s trying to get to her own bag.

RadarOnline reports that Star Brim, the purported “godmother” to a subsection of the Bloods, is free on a $50,000 bond. She is suspected of being a high-ranking female member of the 5-9 Brims gang. Reportedly, Star Brim requested that the court presiding over her criminal case lift her curfew so she can perform her obligations as an influencer without constraints.

Cardi B’s BFF first previously asked to be taken off house arrest, claiming she needed to take part in product photo sessions but was unable to because of the limitations she was facing. Star Brim gave birth to her first child in March 2020 and claimed she’s a single mother who earns money by being an “influencer.”

According to Star’s attorney,

“She has lost income because of her inability to adjust to last-minute changes in scheduling. Now that her son is older and spent the first year of his life outside of the presence of other children, she would very much like for him to be able to socialize with other children, which is virtually impossible given the restrictions of her house arrest.”

A few days later, the judge approved the petition.

Star was detained in 2020 after prosecutors claimed that she had authorized an assault on two female bartenders at a New York strip club. The two women, who are sisters, allegedly disrespected an associate of hers.

Cardi B pleaded guilty in 2018 to assault and reckless endangerment for orchestrating an attack on the same bartenders.

Star was detained as part of a New York Police Department gang sweep that also resulted in the arrest of many other accused members.

Prosecutors said,

“The 5-9 Brims is a violent criminal organization that has terrorized residents of Brooklyn and Queens by committing brutal acts of violence in public places, trafficking narcotics on the streets and defrauding victims through financial schemes.”

Star recently requested that her curfew be lifted, citing scheduling conflicts with her line of work. Her attorney said,

“Ms. Davis is the single mother of a toddler and is solely financially responsible for herself and her son. While she works full time, she needs to work extra jobs to meet her financial obligations. Over the last year, we have requested allowances for extension of curfew, but there have been several last-minute offers to work that she has been unable to take advantage of because there was not sufficient time to seek permission from the Court for a modification of her curfew.”

The judge reportedly found no issues and, once again, signed off on the request.
