The California native was among the countless celebrities who stepped out in their best over the weekend as they attended afterparties for the 96th Academy Awards ceremony. Saweetie showcased her expensive look on social media, letting the world know her short blond hairstyle and stunning sparkly dress were paired with $25 million worth of jewelry. In a video dancing to her newly released track “Richtivities,” Saweetie excitingly yelled,

“I got $25 million on my body!”

The harmless moment unfortunately rubbed some people the wrong way. Late last night (Mar. 11) one critic took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and replied to a posting of the video, writing,

“Ion be believing these celebrities got as much money as they act like they got”

Saweetie quickly replied to the post, letting the naysayer know she never claimed to be the owner of the lavish accessories she rocked at Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty. She wrote,

“how does ur thought correlate with this video? we get dressed to go to red carpets i never said they was mine… the fact that a video of a girl enjoying some diamonds provoked u says more about u than it does about me babes”

In a follow-up post, Saweetie shared a meme of herself seemingly ignoring the unwarranted hate she receives online.

It’s also important to note that in her IG posts showcasing the now-viral look, Saweetie did tag the jeweler who provided the diamonds for the evening. The celebrity jeweler reshared the post and thanked the rapper for her support. In part, he wrote,

“Thank you #Saweetie for the kindness you showed me and truly a diamond inside and out. We gonna keep on BLINGIN!”

In another post shared today (Mar. 12) he added,

“Since we are going viral globally with our #RICHTIVITIES with #SAWEETIE we thought this deserved another post. @Saweetie reminding us to make that money , spend that $25,000,000 and make some more at the #VanityFairOscarsParty . Styled by @thejordanboothe.”
