Update: Rod Wave’s Attorneys Say Rapper Has Been Released From Jail & Despite Firearm Charge, He’s ‘Not A Convicted Felon’

Update: Rapper Rod Wave’s attorneys are slamming the officers who recently arrested the rapper. In a statement shared with TMZ, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin said,

“The officers that made the arrest are incorrect. He is not a convicted felon and has never been a convicted felon. We would have hoped additional research would have been done prior to them filing these charges.”

News broke today (Apr. 3) that Rod Wave was arrested in Florida reportedly on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His legal team shared with the publication that he has since been released on his own recognizance. However, at the time of this report, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website still has the celeb listed as “In Custody (Hold).”

His lawyers added,

“As with any case we will hold those parties that made the error accountable for their actions.”

Original Story: (Apr. 3, 2024): Rapper Rod Wave has reportedly found himself behind bars.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website, the 25-year-old was arrested on April 3 for possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. At the time of this report, it’s unclear if a bond has been set for the “Great Gatsby” artist.

Little details about the Florida arrest have been made public, however, one report did note that “the rapper was apprehended in Pinellas County after allegedly fleeing police.” This isn’t Rod Wave’s first run-in with authorities. As previously reported, in April 2022 he was arrested for allegedly choking an ex-girlfriend while their two children were in the home. Rod Wave, born Rodarius Green, was charged with battery by strangulation. However, in May of that year, his attorney said the charges were dropped.

Legal professional Bradford Cohen wrote,

“DISMISSED …Myself and my main man David Bigney @bigneylawfirm represented Rodarius Green aka Rod Wave on his arrest last week, in Osceola County for an alleged domestic violence case. We are thrilled that this misunderstanding is behind him and he can move forward with a successful career. Sometimes misunderstandings can be misconstrued and it isnt until all the evidence and witnesses are reviewed that the right decision is made by the States Attorney. We thank the Osceola State Atty for his professionalism…David Bigney and I went to law school together and was famous for the Bigney Shuffle…another Bigney shuffle #rodwave #criminallaw #dismissed”

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
