‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Alum Korra Obidi Says She Was Attacked w/ Knife & Acid In The UK, Shares Footage Of Horrific Aftermath
Korra Obidi, who previously competed in So You Think You Can Dance, says she was a victim of a brutal attack.
The Nigerian dancer and singer-songwriter, 32, shared an Instagram video of her in distress sitting on the ground. She asks a female bystander for her bottle of Coca-Cola and says she needs it “to wash acid.”
She goes on to pour the soda on her face as she breathes heavily. A few moments later, the woman tells Korra Obidi that she has blood on the top of her head.
She captioned the troubling video,
“Currently in an ambulance to the hospital, there was a knife, acid attack on me in the UK ?? in the middle of a live stream. There’s been a lot of hate in the past but this physical assault is a wake-up call.”
She described the assailant as a Black woman who was 5 feet tall. The footage also displayed a yellow knife on the ground.
It continued with medical professionals spraying a substance on her bare back and pouring it around her eyes and nose.

On Thursday (April 11), she shared a video of her wrapped in a towel on her Instagram Story. Someone in the background appears to be speaking with authorities and said the woman was wearing a black trench coat and tried to steal Korra Obidi’s phone, however, the pro-dancer was able to stop her.
She also posted a message about standing strong in her faith and promoted an upcoming project that she said would be released Friday, April 12.
On Friday (April 12), she updated fans and showed injuries on her face and body. She emotionally thanked God, pointing out that it could’ve been worse. In the caption, she suggested the incident was related to her divorce.
“I escaped with the best possible scenario and this I am grateful. Hoping the investigations will yield some closure as to who the ring leader to all these attacks are. I have been suffering in silence for 2 years since divorce. Glad this was LIVE and there is ample evidence. Don’t want to wait till the worse happens and help will finally come. This can only be God ?? Thank you everyone. ?? Outsider Out Now.”

Her sister, Nancy Umeh, also spoke out about the assault in an Instagram Story video and said Obidid, who appeared in the Fox competition in 2019, was “attacked” and acid had been poured on her face.
“They threatened to stab her all over her body. They stabbed her on her hands. Just outside her Airbnb in Westminster, London. I am in Belfast and left my sister in a secured apartment.”
She added,
“Somebody waited for my sister in front of her room and poured acid on my sister’s face while trying to stab her…”
She said that thankfully her sister is “strong” or she wouldn’t have survived.
“She would have been unalived. For what? Why?”
Umeh added that although her sister was able to run away and get help, they’re determined to find out who attacked her.
“I no longer feel safe in this country… I just never thought it would happen to anybody that I know.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said that officers received reports of an assault.
“Officers attended and found a woman in her 30s with a cut to her hand and reporting a liquid had been thrown at her face. She was taken to hospital for treatment. The liquid was later confirmed to be a non-noxious cosmetic item.”
They added,
“Another woman left the scene prior to police arrival. An investigation is underway.”
Prayers for Korra Obidi during this difficult time.
