Drake & Kendrick Lamar Were Not Asked To End Their Feud By UMG, Sources Say Music Label ‘Never Considered’ Intervening
Universal Music Group isn’t getting involved with the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef.
A source close to the record label, which both artists have a business relationship with, reportedly claims they have not attempted to interfere with the rap battle and have no plans to.

The source reportedly confirmed that UMG, who both Drake, 37, and Kendrick Lamar 36, are signed to via distribution subsidiaries, “would never jump into something like this.” Additionally, they claim that the record label doesn’t feel it’s their place to get involved and had not even thought about doing so. One report also noted that due to the virality of the songs released during the beef, the music company has actually profited from the situation as both artists have seen a significant boost in their music streaming.

The source’s remarks come shortly after speculations began to circulate that UMG wanted Kendrick Lamar to apologize to Drake for suggesting he was a “pedophile” among other things. A social media post that surfaced as “credible intel” alleged that the record label formally asked Kendrick to end his beef with Drake and post a statement clarifying Drake isn’t a pedophile, as the accusation would cost them money.

However, it seems there was no truth to the rumors. As you may know, Drake and Kendrick have exchanged a series of rap songs targeting one another’s character since their quiescent beef reared its head over the past couple of months. Throughout the tracks, Kendrick made alarming allegations about Drake and several of his associates, accusing them of preying on underage girls.

Drake also took credit for bringing Kendrick back into the music game and accused the Compton native of domestic violence. However, none of the criminal accusations from either party have been confirmed to be true. At this time, it appears the beef has officially ended as neither rap star has dropped any further responses.
