Update: Tyrese’s Ex-Wife Norma Mitchell’s Restraining Order Request Over Alleged Harassment Denied

Update: Tyrese’s Ex-Wife Norma Mitchell’s restraining order request has been denied.

As previously reported, Days after filing a defamation lawsuit against the “Sweet Lady” artist, Mitchell went back to court in hopes of getting an order of protection. The former love birds’ drama escalated earlier this month when Tyrese took to Instagram to publicly address another ongoing legal issue between them.

From there, Mitchell sued him for defamation, and days later, she filed for a restraining order. According to RadarOnline, a judge denied her request, noting the facts presented “do not show reasonable proof of a past act of acts of abuse.” However, it’s said that Mitchell can make her case for the restraining order in front of a judge this July.

The other legal matters between the pair have yet to be resolved.

Original Story: (May 9, 2024): The ex-wife of Tyrese Gibson is now seeking a protection order against him.

According to TMZ, Norma Mitchell recently filed a court motion seeking a restraining order against the Fast & Furious star, citing his social media posts as proof of his alleged harassment.

Reportedly, Norma Mitchell filed the restraining order request in the days after she sued her ex-husband for defamation. As we recently covered, the mother of Tyrese Gibson’s eldest daughter Shayla filed a lawsuit against him earlier this week, amid their back and forth over an alleged tuition debt the celebrity said she owes him. They were married from 2007 – 2009 and share one daughter.

In the restraining order paperwork, Norma Mitchell reportedly argued that the same social media posts cited in her defamation suit, where Tyrese Gibson accused her of extortion, forgery, and other things, should also be deemed as harassment. She claimed that the posts exposed private details about their court battle, attacked her directly, and also encouraged his fans to attack her. Additionally, Mitchell claimed that Tyrese sharing sensitive information while leaking their court documents to the public puts their daughter Shayla’s safety in jeopardy.

Mitchell is reportedly seeking the court to require Tyrese to remove all posts regarding their court battle and prevent him from speaking on the matter publicly any further. On Top of that, she wants the entertainer to cover the costs of therapy sessions she’ll likely have to book to cope with the emotional stress of their litigations.

It has not been reported that a judge has ruled on the matter at this time, and it does not appear Tyrese has reacted publicly to the situation.
