Diddy Returns Key To NYC After Mayor Eric Adams Sends Him A Letter Asking For It Back

Update (June 17, 2024): NYC Mayor Eric Adams has officially requested Diddy return to the coveted key to the city. Over the weekend, a letter Eric Adams sent the music mogul surfaced. In the note, Eric Adams asked Diddy to return the key, referencing the disturbing footage of Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie.

Eric Adams sent one letter to Combs Entertainment LLC in New York, and a second letter to the business in Los Angeles.

He wrote in the letter, obtained by TMZ,

“Like many people. I was deeply disturbed by recent video footage of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then partner..”

He continued,

“I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. Our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.”

He provided an address where Diddy could return the key. It was reportedly turned less than a week later.

Original Story (May 20, 2024): The fallout continues for Diddy following the release of disturbing footage of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie.

Mayor Eric Adams made a recent appearance on PIX11 News, and when asked what he thought about possibly rescinding ‘The Key to the City of New York’ honor that was given to Diddy last year, he stated:

“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him.”

He continued,

“The committee has never rescinded a key before, but we’re now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”

The honor was originally bestowed upon the 54-year-old hip-hop mogul in September 2023 for his contributions to the city of New York, including millions of dollars in donations and support for Black entrepreneurs.

Along with Mayor Eric Adams, former Bad Boy artist Shyne has also spoken out against his former colleague. The Grammy Award winner took to Instagram and wrote,

“I vehemently denounce the repugnant behavior of Sean Diddy Combs captured on the video in which he is seen physically assaulting Mrs Cassie Ventura-Fine.”

He elaborated,

“There is no place for Violence against Women anywhere on the planet. As a father of a precious daughter, a global citizen and the next Prime Minister of Belize I want absolutely nothing to do with people who engage in this pattern of diabolical behavior.”

The now-politician and Diddy don’t have the smoothest past, especially since Shyne recently claimed to have been “the fall guy” for Diddy in an incident that resulted in his conviction and a ten-year prison sentence following a 1999 New York City club shooting.

This all follows the release of disturbing hotel surveillance footage, which appears to show Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a 2016 hotel attack. Cassie detailed the incident in a since-settled lawsuit, alleging that the rapper physically and sexually abused her for years.
