During a recent red carpet event for Bridgerton season 3 part 2, which dropped earlier today (Thursday, June 13th), Jess Brownell stated about the show’s next season:
“I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re towards the end with the writers room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have.”
Continuing, the showrunner offered some insight into how long it takes to write and film, adding:
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language…And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”
In case you’re unfamiliar with the series, Bridgerton is an England-based Regency-era drama that follows the lives of eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family as they attempt to find love. Produced by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland and Netflix, season 1 of the series debuted in 2020 to much fanfare and critical acclaim, setting the tone for two successful follow-up seasons as well as a spin-off titled Queen Charlotte.

Netflix opted to split the current season into 2 parts, with the first having premiered in May. Season 4 of the series was reportedly green-lit in 2021. Elsewhere in the interview, Brownwell credited the lead actors from the first 2 seasons for keeping up momentum for all the success that has followed, stating:
“I am so proud of how this season has performed and so grateful to the fans for tuning in. I think every season, the momentum builds more and more, and I think we have a debt to pay to the actors in seasons one and two for helping build enthusiasm. Then, I think Nicola and Luke have helped build a lot of enthusiasm.”
There have been no other details shared about what fans can expect from season 4 at this time.
