Brad Pitt ‘Virtually Has No Contact’ w/ His Adult Kids Amid Legal Battle w/ Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt probably won’t be winning any Father of the Year awards anytime soon.

It’s no secret that the Mr. and Mrs. Smith actor has a strained relationship with some of his children, however, the rift between them may be bigger than it initially seemed. Brad Pitt, 60, shares six children with actress Angelina Jolie, 48. Three adopted children; Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, and Pax, 20; and three biological children Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.

Despite once seeming like a close-knit bunch, an insider recently shared with PEOPLE that Brad Pitt really doesn’t talk to his adult children.

They said,

“He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule.” 

And added,

“[Angelina] has the kids most of the time, but per their agreement, he has visitation with the younger kids.”

Although the famous family has yet to speak publically about the rumored tension, there have been signs of a disconnect between Brad and his kids. Most recently, reports surfaced that for her 18th birthday, daughter Shiloh legally dropped Brad’s surname, a decision he was reportedly “blindsided” by.

In addition, in November 2023, daughter Zahara skipped over her celeb dad’s surname while introducing herself during her crossing ceremony for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

No word on what sparked the family drama. However, it’s alleged that in 2016 the children and Angelina Jolie were physically attacked by Brad while on a private flight from Miraval back to Los Angeles. In court documents filed in April of this year, Angelina Jolie’s legal team claimed the alleged abuse she experienced during her time with Brad started before the plane incident.

The filing noted,

“While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”
