Angelina Jolie Claims Ex-Husband Brad Pitt Physically Abused Her Multiple Times Throughout Their Marriage

The ongoing legal battle between Hollywood exes Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continues with new allegations of abuse.

In a court motion filed Thursday (April 4th), Angelina Jolie’s attorneys reportedly alleged that Brad Pitt had been physically violent with the actress before the 2016 airplane incident that ended their marriage.

Reportedly, Angeline Jolie, 48, made the allegations while responding to her former husband suing her over one of their shared businesses. In case you’re unfamiliar, the two have been in an ongoing legal fight since 2022 after Brad Pitt, 60, sued the actress for selling her shares of their winery, arguing it went against their divorce agreement as she kept him in the dark and made the deal without his permission.

In response, Jolie has been making a case about why she needed to be free of her partnership with the Benjamin Button star, citing his alleged ongoing abuse. Up until now, the public has only been aware of the headlining airplane incident where Jolie accused her ex of violently shaking her and being violent with their children, prompting her to file for divorce immediately after. Now, the Tomb Raider star claims the abuse began long before that.

In the recent court filing, Jolie’s lawyers reportedly wrote:

“While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”

They also claim that evidence of the abuse is documented and Pitt’s winery lawsuit is ultimately the result of his attempt to silence her about the situation. However, a source close to Pitt reportedly shared that the recent accusations are completely false, claiming Jolie’s recent motion is simply a strategy. They stated:

“This is a pattern of behavior — whenever there is a decision that goes against the other side they consistently choose to introduce misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant information as a distraction.”

They added:

“There was a lengthy custody trial that involved the entire history of their relationship and a judge who heard all the evidence still granted him 50/50 custody.”
