Cory Hardrict Addresses ‘Divorce In The Black’ Critics + Opens Up About Viral Red Carpet Moment w/ Ex-Wife Tia Mowry

Cory Hardrict is addressing the criticism of his latest movie, Divorce in the Black.

The latest Tyler Perry melodrama starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict is grabbing attention, largely due to its negative reviews, notably receiving a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Comedian and actress Loni Love’s review of the movie on X (formerly Twitter) has also gained significant attention, as she suggested that Tyler Perry hire writers and directors to enhance the quality of his films:

“I love that Tyler is paying Black actors now. I wish he would hire Black writers and directors that have experience to help him with his movies… He could improve the movies & make them award worthy if he would stop trying to save money by doing the writing and directing himself.”

Recently, the film’s leading man, 35-year-old Cory Hardrict, spoke with TMZ and addressed the critics.

When asked about his awareness of all the harsh criticism surrounding Divorce in the Black, he stated,

“It’s the #1 movie in the world … I don’t know nothing about it, I didn’t see that. The people love the movie, and we do it for the the people. If the culture rocking with it, it’s all love.”

He continued,

“Everyone has an opinion and they’re entitled to it, so it’s fine.”

In response to Loni Love, Cory simply replied,

“He [Tyler Perry] wrote the #1 movie in the world… go see it.”

Cory Hardrict was also asked if he would consider working with billionaire studio owner and producer Tyler Perry again, especially after the negative reviews.

He stated,

“I love Mr. Tyler Perry! We’re working again on something for sure! It was the most incredible experience I ever had on a film. He takes care of his actors.”

On a different note, Cory was also questioned about what many called an awkward moment when he and his ex-wife, actress Tia Mowry, greeted each other at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood event.

Reflecting on that moment, Cory expressed,

“I don’t know nothing about being awkward. It’s real love there. We love each other unconditionally, that’ll never change. We have two beautiful children that we’re co-parenting. It’s all love.”
