Nelly Was Arrested While Winning A $50,000 Jackpot At Casino, Officers Said A Mandatory Background Check Revealed A Warrant Against Him
Nelly was arrested just after winning a $50,000 jackpot, new details reveal.
His lawyer Scott Rosenblum revealed on Friday (Aug. 9), that he still has the money he won from a slot machine just before he was taken into custody for “no proof of insurance” on Wednesday (Aug. 7).

Interestingly enough, reports swirled that Nelly was also arrested for possession of ecstasy, however, his attorney vehemently denied that he was charged with drug possession. Instead, Rosenblum claims the rapper was “targeted by an overzealous out of line officer.”
Meanwhile, insiders also reveal Nelly thought the arrest was a joke at first. He was literally in the middle of receiving his five-figure win when a background check revealed an open warrant against him. While one of his hands was handcuffed to a chair, he used the other hand to collect the money.
Once he had it all in his hands, police arrested him, handcuffing both of his wrists. Police also searched him and alleged they found ecstasy in his possession. Per Nelly’s lawyer, an arresting officer said police had to run a background check before he got the funds.

Still, Nelly suggests he was set up as he previously won even more money at the same casino and never had to get a background check.
Rosenblum emphasized that Nelly has yet to be charged with drug possession, and now they want they want the cop who arrested Nelly to be investigated. They allege that the rapper was searched without cause.
