GloRilla Removes R-Word From Unreleased Track After Facing Backlash
Rising rapper GloRilla has heard your complaints.
The 25-year-old recently previewed an unreleased track that landed her in the hot seat with several of her fans. In the initial version of the upcoming record, she raps,
“Me and my b*tch r******d.”
As you can imagine, GloRilla’s use of the R-word brought up loads of criticism, with many asking her to change the lyrics before the song’s official release.

One person unpleased with the original lyrics addresses the matter on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote,
“There are so many disabled baddies who love your music @GloTheofficial and I’m one of them!
I feel there are way better words to use instead of the r-word which is an ableist slur that affects disabled people. Please reconsider using another word.”
Another added
“Turned it off soon as I heard the R word smh”
Taking to her own X account late last night (Aug. 25), GloRilla previewed the song again, showing that she listened to her supporters’ concerns and revised her lyrics. In the updated version, instead of the R-word, she raps,
“Me and my b*tch go gnarly.”

Reacting to the removed slur, a fan said,
“Listening to valid criticism’ll help your songs go further and realizing its a small change >>>”
Another noted, however, that they think the internet overreacted to the entire situation.
“D*mn so the “R word” line was changed to go gnarly? Good save, but I HATE the f*cking internet and the fake *ss outrage. Southern rappers have said r*tawdid for so long. It’s a part of the slang especially in
Louisiana.”
