Lori Harvey Kept First Acting Role In New Series A Secret From Dad Steve Harvey: ‘He Was So Shocked’

Lori Harvey has officially added “actress” to her list of accomplishments.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is a new crime drama that dropped its first few episodes today (Sept. 5) on Peacock. The series takes place in the ’70s and centers around a heist that occurs the night of Muhammad Ali’s return to boxing. Many familiar faces make up the cast, including Chloe Bailey (Lena Mosley), Kevin Hart (Chicken Man), Taraji P. Henson (Vivian Thomas), and Terrence Howard (Richard Wheeler). The project also marks Lori Harvey’s acting debut as Lola Falana.

During a recently aired interview with Today With Hoda & Jenna alongside her co-star Chloe Bailey, Lori Harvey dished on what it was like working with some heavy hitters of Hollywood for her very first acting role.

“I’m still nervous I was literally telling [Chloe] backstage like, ‘I’m so nervous.’ I haven’t seen anything so I’m going to be watching it with everybody, but the nerves have not gone away yet.”

Lori Harvey may be new to acting but she’s no stranger to the limelight. In addition to her modeling career, and time as an equestrian, Lori owns a skincare line and is also the adoptive daughter of comedian and actor Steve Harvey. When asked how her famous dad reacted to her new line of work, Lori revealed that she initially kept the entire thing a secret from him.

“My dad actually didn’t find out until I showed up at the house in Atlanta to film. He was like, ‘What are you doing home?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m acting.’ [He said] ‘Acting in what?’ And I was like ‘A real TV show.’ So he was so shocked.”

She added,

“He was so excited for me. He was like ‘Ok, this is the real deal, you got to focus, this is big.”

As far as how she prepared for her new series, which also stars Don Cheadle (Detective JD Hudson) and
Samuel L. Jackson (Frank Moten), Lori said she learned by watching the veteran entertainers on set.
