Tristan Thompson Trends As The Public Reacts To Him Reportedly Inking A New Deal w/The Cleveland Cavaliers: ‘Just Makes Sense’
NBA player Tristan Thompson will reportedly spend another year with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Internet users have been reacting to the announcement since it was revealed earlier today (Friday, September 6th), with many individuals seeming to support the decision.
Trusted sports journalist Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news to this X account, writing in a post:
“Free agent C Tristan Thompson is finalizing a one-year deal to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN.”
He added:
“Thompson has played 10 of his 13 seasons with the Cavs. President Koby Altman and Klutch CEO Rich Paul are finishing up an agreement.”
At this time it doesn’t appear that any further details about the alleged contract has been shared. However, that didn’t stop social media users from reacting to the post. Many showed their support for Tristan Thompson’s reunion with the East Coast team, highlight what skills his bing man persona could add to next seasons roster. Others, however, seem confused by the notion, arguing that his past few seasons have not proved that he’s worthy of the spot.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Thompson made his NBA debut with the Cavs in 2011 and won his only championship ring with the team in 2016. The hooper played there until he was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2020, and subsequently signed several short term deals with the Indiana Pacers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Last year, the Cavs first asked Thompson to rejoin the team to the tune of a 1-year $2 million dollar deal. Now, it seems they are gearing up to offer an extension to his contract. As one user pointed out, Thompson has made a significant earning throughout his professional basketball career. To date, it’s estimated that raked in a total of $120,167,979 dollars from his yearly contracts alone.
