Sad news.
Talented actor James Earl Jones has passed away. According to reports, the 2x Primetime Emmy Awards winner died Monday morning (Sep. 9) at his home in Dutchess County, N.Y. at the age of 93. Throughout his career, James Earl Jones appeared in countless iconic projects including The Lion King (1994 — voice of Mufasa), Coming to America (1988 — King Jaffe Joffer), and Driving Miss Daisy (2014). He’s also known for voicing Darth Vader in the 1980 Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back. He reprised his voice role several times throughout the film series.

James Earl Jones’ rep shared that he “passed this morning surrounded by his loved ones.” They added,
“He was a great man. “
James Earl Jones was born in Arkabutla, Mississippi in 1931. He used his love of poetry and acting to overcome his childhood stutter. He made his Broadway debut in 1957, but it was his performance in The Great White Hope that earned him his first Tony Award in 1968. In addition to film and theater, James Earl Jones also built an impressive career in television.
