WNBA Star Angel Reese Announces Season-Ending Surgery After Wrist Injury, Denies Rumors She Faked Injury Due To Secret Pregnancy
Angel Reese’s rookie season has come to an unfortunate early end.
In a TikTok posted late Sunday night, September 9, the WNBA star announced that she will be out for the rest of the season due to a wrist injury sustained during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Angel Reese explained,
“Y’all know I hurt my wrist. I’m out for the season. I fell on my hand… there’s a small crack in my bone.”
Angel Reese elaborated on the necessity of surgery, sharing,
“The risk of not having surgery… I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn’t an option. The bone could literally crack and shatter. Right now, it’s like a hairline. They’re going to put a small screw in it.”
Scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, Reese gave fans an update on her recovery plan:
“I’m going to get a hard cast for four weeks. I’m going to be in a soft cast for two weeks… and then I’m back. In six weeks, I’ll be back.”
Addressing rumors, Reese firmly denied speculation about her being pregnant or faking the injury, stating,
“That’s not going to be a thing anytime soon.”
Despite her injury, she assured fans she’ll remain active by focusing on lifting, running, conditioning, and supporting her teammates from the sidelines.

Despite the setback, Reese appeared in good spirits in a second TikTok video, where she lip-synced to Project Pat’s Life We Live, featuring the lyrics:
“Gotta take the good with the bad, smile with the sad, love what you got and remember what you had.”

The Chicago Sky rookie, known for her dominant presence on the court, also took to social media on September 7 to share her thoughts on her remarkable first year in the league:
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol … Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”
Reese’s standout rookie season earned her a WNBA All-Star selection and set records with her rebounding. Though sidelined, she’s optimistic about returning stronger and looks forward to competing in the Unrivaled league in January, while the Chicago Sky push for the playoffs without her.
We wish Angel Reese a swift recovery. Share your thoughts in the comments!
