Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones Says Cuba Gooding Jr. Is Intentionally Evading Attempts To Serve Him $30 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit
Looks like producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones is having trouble delivering his lawsuit to all the defendants.
Documents obtained by AllHipHop show that the former Diddy collaborator is seeking an extension to get the complaint to Cuba Gooding Jr., who he accused of sexual assault.
The report states that Lil Rod asked a court judge to grant him an extra 60 days to deliver his lawsuit documents, alleging that Cuba Gooding Jr. is purposely dodging the process server. As previously covered, Lil Rod amended his $30 million sexual abuse lawsuit against Diddy to include Cuba Gooding Jr.
He claimed the actor groped his inner thighs and groin area after the were connected by Diddy at one of his yacht parties.
In the request to the judge, Lil Rod’s lawyer Tyrone Blackburn alleged that Gooding has used this tactic of evading process servers in multiple cases before. Back in March, we covered stories from other women claiming that the Oscar winner was also ignoring their process servers amid their own sexual assault lawsuits against him.
As far as Lil Rod’s suit goes, his lawyer said he attempted to serve Gooding at properties in California and New York with no success, noting that he didn’t follow the actor to Florida because he allegedly bounces between hotels there.
He wrote in the recent motion:
“The plaintiff has attempted to serve Mr. Gooding Jr. at [the New York City] location several times and he has refused to answer the door…The plaintiff discovered this is Mr. Gooding Jr.’s address from conducting a skip trace search, which was also confirmed through court filings … Additionally, this was his address of record for his recent criminal cases where he [pleaded] guilty for sexual assault.”
Gooding has maintained his innocence, attempting to separate himself from Diddy, and claimed that being named in Lil Rod’s suit is “the most ridiculous thing ever.” It’s unclear whether or not a judge has granted Lil Rod’s motion at this time.
