Tyla Tells Critics To ‘Shut The F*ck Up’ As She Denies Shading Halle Bailey When She Asked For Help Holding Her Video Music Award
Despite how it may have seemed, it’s all good between Tyla and Halle Bailey.
Tyla took to her X account and claimed the public was creating a whole bunch of drama out of nothing, writing,
“Y’all make everything weird…I was not asking my girl Halle…We just girls, STFU I WON A VMAAAA”
Halle Bailey, 24, then quote replied to the post and said,
“exactly — love u babes congrats”
For those who missed what led up to the singers’ X exchange, don’t worry…theJasmineBRAND is here to loop you in. Wednesday evening (Sep. 11) many tuned in to watch Hollywood stars at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The night was a huge hit, but naturally, it wouldn’t be an award ceremony in the entertainment industry without an online conspiracy that stemmed from the event. South African singer Tyla, 22, won Best Afrobeats for her single hit “Water,” coming out on top of the other nominees: Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Tems and Lojay.
Fellow singer Halle Bailey and rapper Lil Nas X presented Tyla with her award. However, before starting her thank you speech, Tyla noted how heavy the Moonman was by saying into the mic,
“You guys know me and awards, I’m not strong enough.”
She then turned in the direction of Halle Bailey and Lil Nas X and asked, “Please please, are you able to hold for me?” before Lil Nas X ultimately took the award from her hands. Now, Tyla didn’t specify at that moment who exactly she was talking to, but internet users were quick to point out Halle Bailey smiling as she seemingly ignored the request from the “Jump” artist.

One person on the platform formerly known as Twitter wrote,
“I tell people all the time Halle Bailey was NOT acting on Grownish. She was being herself.”
Another pointed out another awkward moment during Tyla’s time on stage and said,
“no shade but why tyla shooed Halle’s hand away ? that whole interaction was so unnecessary”
Of course, the comments didn’t end there, see more reactions below:
