Janet Jackson Recalls Her Pants Ripping During Performance For Queen Elizabeth: ‘Split Right In My Booty Crack’

Pop icon Janet Jackson has no shortage of wardrobe malfunction stories.

The singer recently reflected on one of those heart-pounding moments, recalling the time her pants ripped while she was performing for the late Queen of England.

Janet Jackson, 58, was reportedly looking through some of her most iconic fashion moments over the years when she spoke about the incident. The “Control” singer explained that Queen Elizabeth was present at the show, which happened sometime in the 1990’s, stating:

“I was performing for the Queen of England and we were doing ‘Rhythm Nation’…Sure enough, as soon as I squatted, my pants split right in my booty crack. I couldn’t believe it happened. I thought, ‘Oh my God.’

She continued:

“And then I started feeling air back there, so I knew it had really happened.”

Holding true to the old adage ‘the show must go on,’ Jackson says she continued the performance and remained extra careful to “just face forward” so that she wouldn’t “flash” the royal official. As you may recall, this isn’t the first story of Jackson’s costumes coming undone at the most inopportune time. Back in 2004, the musician was infamously scrutinized after her Super Bowl halftime show performance with Justin Timberlake ended with her nipple exposed due to a wardrobe error.

Throughout their years, speculations as to what really happened have continued to surface. Back in 2021, Timberlake’s then-stylist alleged that he planned the incident to upstage his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears, who infamously kissed Madonna during a VMA performance months prior.

Whatever the truth, Timberlake has since publicly apologized over the incident and Jackson’s family members have made it clear that she’s moved on.
