August Alsina Explains Why He Stepped Away From The Music Industry
August Alsina is letting his fans in on his decision to separate from the music scene.
The 32-year-old singer recently took to X (formally Twitter) to address a fan who joked with him about “not doing music anymore.” As a response, August Alsina spoke on the “diabolical” aspects of the music industry while encouraging fans to check out his other business endeavors.

The “No Love” artist wrote,
“One day it’ll be revealed the diabolical level of doxxing, railroading, stonewalling, roadblocking, gaslighting, and betrayal that goes on behind the scenes within this industry.”
He continued,
“Abuse of power, all in the name of up-keeping facades, promotion of lies and illusions; While simultaneously hiding of hands to make it look as though you’re fighting an invisible boogey-man. In this industry there is no HR to report this kind of behavior to. BUT GOD has never slept on my prayers or report. Give.It.Time! In 2013, August Alsina rose to fame thanks to his debut single “I Luv This Sh*t” featuring Trinidad James. The song peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The breakout hit led to the musician landing a collaboration with rap star Nicki Minaj for his 2014 follow-up single, “No Love (Remix),” which also received double platinum certification.
While Alsina didn’t quite announce a retirement from music, his most recent full-length studio album Myself dropped on March 10, 2023. Lately, the R&B singer has been focusing on his skincare line, Encina Wellness, which is now available for purchase at Urban Outfitters.
