Yo Gotti’s Late Brother Big Jook Allegedly Put A $100,000 Hit Out To Have Young Dolph Killed, Prosecutors Claim
Young Dolph’s murder trial has kicked off with a serious allegation.
According to prosecutors, Yo Gotti’s late brother Big Jook put a hit out on Young Dolph that ultimately led to his unfortunate death. Young Dolph, real name Adolph Thornton Jr., was gunned down on November 17, 2021, in his home city of Memphis while visiting a local bakery he frequented.
Following an investigation, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith were indicted on first-degree murder charges and other felonies. Today (Sep. 23), during the prosecution’s opening remarks for Johnson’s trial, it was alleged that the men killed the “Major” rapper in exchange for money from Anthony “Big Jook” Mims.
Prosecutors outlined the hostile history between Yo Gotti, real name Mario Mims, and Dolph, noting diss records and shady remarks aimed at each other over the years. Things got so heated that in 2017 Dolph’s car was shot up, which many assumed had to do with Yo Gotti.
As the drama between the men and also their labels (Dolph’s Paper Route Empire, and Gotti’s Collective Music Group) grew, a $100,000 hit was allegedly placed on Dolph by Gotti’s brother Big Jook.
Attorney Paul Hagerman argued,
“Big Jook, the person I told you about before, that number two guy at CMG, he’s put out a hit, $100,000 to whoever kills Dolph. He has met with Justin. He has met with Cornelius, and they think they’re ready to do it.”
Hagerman continued,
“They’re definitely willing to do it. For Cornelius it would be, $50 grand I guess that he can waste away on Percocets and ecstasy. For Justin, it’s 50 grand but also a chance to make it big with CMG. To become the next famous Memphis rapper.”
Day 1 of Young Dolph’s murder trial is underway, as the prosecution informed the jury that a hit to kill Dolph was ordered by Yo Gotti’s older brother Big Jook.

A third suspect, Hernandez Govan, is accused of orchestrating Dolph’s murder and will also stand trial. As previously reported Big Jook was fatally shot in January. Some speculated that his murder was a retaliation for Dolph’s death.
