Brad Pitt Imposters Scam 2 Women Out Of $350,000, Victims Believed They Were In A Romantic Relationship w/ The Actor
A new report involving Brad Pitt is a stark reminder to be cautious of scammers when connecting with people on the internet.
Spanish authorities claim that two of their citizens were duped out of at least $350,000 after being conned into believing they were in communication with the Oscar-winning actor.
According to a report from the New York Times, Spain’s Interior Ministry released a statement on Monday (Sep. 23rd), announcing that they’ve detained 5 individuals involved in the scheme which saw them posing as Brad Pitt, 60, to secure funds and gifts from unsuspecting fans. The report stated:
“The statement said the accused had contacted the women through an online fan page dedicated to Mr. Pitt and posed as the Oscar-winning American actor. The authorities said the accused had gone on to exchange instant messages and emails with their victims, who thought they were corresponding directly with Mr. Pitt.”
And continued:
“[The scammers] managed to make these women believe they had become so close to the well-known American actor that they believed they had a romantic relationship with him.”

It’s noted that one of the victims sent the Pitt imposters about $168,000 and the other sent around $195,500. Reportedly, only $94,000 of the stolen funds has been recovered thus far.
Pitt’s attorney released a statement sharing remorse that his client’s name was used in the scam.
“It’s awful that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities. But this is an important reminder to not respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have no social media presence.”
It’s also important to note that Pitt doesn’t have any active social media accounts.
