NeNe Leakes’ Bank Account Reportedly Garnished Over $25K Debt For Unpaid Swagg Boutique Rent

NeNe Leakes’ Bank Account Reportedly Garnished Over $25K Debt For Unpaid Swagg Boutique Rent

NeNe Leakes is dealing with some financial drama. According to court docs obtained by In Touch Weekly, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s bank account has been garnished to pay off a debt stemming from alleged unpaid rent for her now-closed Swagg Boutique.

Court documents reveal that a Georgia judge signed off on a request by MPG-Sugarloaf, the company that leased the commercial property to NeNe, to seize funds from her account at Truist Bank. NeNe, 56, reportedly didn’t show up in court to oppose the claim.

The landlord alleges NeNe Leakes owes over $25,000 in unpaid rent for the space, which housed her boutique from 2017 until its permanent closure in 2022. The boutique had briefly reopened after the pandemic but eventually shut its doors for good. MPG-Sugarloaf is demanding the full unpaid balance plus interest.

NeNe Leakes, however, had a different perspective, previously claiming on social media that she wasn’t responsible for the debt. “Gregg signed the lease not me! He ain’t here,” she said, referring to her late husband, Gregg Leakes, who passed away in 2021. Despite being served with legal papers outside her Atlanta home, NeNe never responded in court, resulting in a default judgment in November 2023.

While dealing with this legal situation, NeNe posted on her Instagram story, “Lately my peace has been more important than proving my point,” hinting at her mindset amid the ongoing challenges.

Meanwhile, NeNe has recently returned to work with NBC Universal, hosting a red carpet after-show on E!, marking her return to the company she previously sued.
