Eric Benét Claims Joe Jackson Once ‘Tested’ Him By Repeating Ex-Wife Halle Berry’s Name In His Ear & Laughing Hysterically

R&B singer Eric Benét recently told a hilarious story about an interaction he had with late pop icon Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson.

The Alabama native, 57, recalled sitting in front of the Jackson 5 founder during an award show years ago and claimed what started as a “cool” experience quickly turned into something else.

He explained:

“I thought, ‘This is pretty cool,’ I’m sitting right in front of Michael Jackson’s daddy…so I’m sitting there, we come back from commercial break and the award show is starting…all of a sudden I could feel the heat of somebody who was right on my neck…this is exactly what I heard ‘Halle Berry hehe hehe.”

Alleging that Jackson pronounced his ex-wife’s name incorrectly, he continued:

“The first thing I thought was ‘It’s pronounced Halle’…the next thing I thought was ‘What the actual F is happening right now?'”

Benét went on to state that he was initially confused by the remark, and couldn’t tell if Jackson was trying to be “witty” or “trying to introduce himself,” noting that he “uncomfortably” turned around to acknowledge Jackson at the moment.

However, the “Spend My Life With You” singer said he soon realized he was being “tested.”

“Two minutes later, I feel that heat on the back of my neck again and smelled that old man cologne…in the exact same way ‘Halle Berry hehe hehe’…so now I realize okay, he’s testing you…he’s like ‘Is Eric Benét a punk? Can I do this to him all night and he won’t do nothing?’”

Benét pondered whether or not he was headed towards an “altercation” with the man who “whipped little Michael Jackson’s a**.”

To put an end to the situation, Benét said he again turned around and asked Jackson to stop, to which the Jackson patriarch allegedly responded:

“Hehe, I was just playing with ya I didn’t mean nothing, hehehehe.”

The two didn’t have any other interactions for the rest of the night.
