Kayla Nicole Says Her Mom Was ‘Offended’ By Backlash Over The Halloween Costume Story
Kayla Nicole is opening up about the backlash she faced after her appearance on Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, revealing that while she brushed it off, her mom didn’t take it so lightly.
During her emotional sit-down on “I Am Athlete,” Kayla Nicole explained that despite handling the situation with “grace,” her mother was upset by the social media response.
Kayla Nicole shared, “My mom calls me… she’s offended. She’s hurt by the way people are perceiving her daughter,” adding that her mom suggested she avoid answering certain questions next time.
Reflecting on the experience, Kayla said, “I thought that I answered the questions to the best of my ability… didn’t matter to me.” But for her mom, the negative headlines hit hard.
She also admitted that the whole situation has been a learning experience for her, attributing it to a lack of media training, and she said, “You don’t always have to respond,” echoing her mother’s advice.
If you remember, Kayla Nicole made headlines last week for revealing she dressed up as Teyana Taylor in Kanye West’s “Fade” video after being dumped by an athlete—believed to be Iman Shumpert —who then appeared publicly with a “singer and actress,” assumed to be Taylor, sparking online drama.
